A Guide to Tinos

Dovecotes on Tinos IslandTravelers on their way from Athens to Mykonos by ferry all stop at the island of Tinos. The only people who get off the boat are the pilgrims visiting one of the holiest shrines in Greece and a few foreigners who have been living in Greece or visiting long enough to know what is what and of course the people who have their roots in Tinos or were smart enough to buy a home here. The regular tourists stay on the ship and admire the port and the coast as they sail on to their Mykonos holiday. But those few adventurous travelers who do get off discover one of the most beautiful islands in Greece with fantastic beaches and the white cubist architecture they have traveled hundreds and thousands of miles to see. Some find themselves cured of their desire to go to Mykonos ever again. This is my guide to the magical island of Tinos. It does not get the hype of its popular neighbors, but that is a good thing.
