FROM HOMER TO ZORBA THE GREEK
An Exploration of Greece
March 10-18, 2006 conducted by Dr. Andrew
Horton Director of Film & Video Studies and the Jeanne H Smith
Professor of FVS
Enjoy traveling through Greek history, culture and cinema while
seeing the landscapes including two islands---Kea and Crete-as well
as Athens and much more as you also meet Greek filmmakers, writers
and poets. There will be daily lectures and discussions and
a number of screenings, yet there is also free time for swimming,
walking, writing, and enjoying the open café/taverna society of
Greece. Participants have included in the past, alumni, students,
faculty and friends of the University of Oklahoma and individuals,
couples and families from across the United States, Europe, and
New Zealand.
The seminar is conducted by Andrew Horton, Director of FVS at
the University of Oklahoma, an award winning screenwriter and author
of 17 books including A CINEMA OF CONTEMPLATION: THE FILMS OF THEO
ANGELOPOULOS,SCREENWRITING FOR A GLOBAL MARKET, LAUGHING OUT
LOUD: WRITING THE COMEDY CENTERED SCREENPLAY, and, forthcoming,
THE SHORT STORIES OF ANTONIS SAMARAKIS. Dr. Horton
has lived in Greece for over eight years during the past 30
years and has brought 18 different groups to Greece (that's over
300 participants!)

COST (minus airfare) $1,800. This includes the cost of
the seminar, hotels (double rooms), breakfasts, several evening
meals and several picnics as well as tours and transportation throughout
the mainland and islands. $2,050 for a single room. $500 deposit
due December lst, 2006 The full amount due by January 15th,
2006.
